Polishing Mixed Bed Resin – Ultra-Pure Water Preparation

Ultra-pure water, also known as UP water, is water with a resistivity of 18MΩ·cm (25°C). Polishing mixed bed resins are designed to remove almost all conductive substances from the water, as well as colloidal matter, gases, and organic compounds, to very low levels.

Main Process Flow for Preparing Ultra-Pure Water with Polishing Resins:

  1. Pre-treatment → Dual-bed → Mixed bed → Polishing resin
  2. Pre-treatment → Reverse osmosis → Mixed bed → Polishing resin
  3. Pre-treatment → Reverse osmosis → CEDI membrane block → Polishing resin

HaiPu Polishing Resin
HaiPu polishing resin is a mixed resin composed of strong acid cation exchange resins and strong base anion exchange resins. It has excellent treatment performance, efficiently filtering both cations and anions in water, and improving system water quality. The highest water resistivity it can produce is above 18.25 MΩ, making it one of the highest resistivity resins in the ultra-pure water field.

Polishing Resin Characteristics and Handling:

  1. Polishing Resin Composition: The resin is a mixture of hydrogen-type strong acid cation exchange resin and hydroxide-type strong base anion exchange resin.
  2. Handling during Loading: When adding water for easy filling, ensure that only pure water is used. The water level should not be too high. After filling the resin bed, immediately remove or drain the water to prevent resin stratification.
  3. Hand Filling Resin: If filling by hand, ensure that hands are clean, and avoid contaminating the resin bed with oils or dirt.
  4. Resin Replacement: When replacing resin, completely clean the tank and the collection system. Old resin should not remain in the bottom of the tank, as it could pollute the water.
  5. O-ring Maintenance: The O-rings must be replaced periodically. Additionally, inspect all related components during each resin replacement, and replace any damaged parts immediately. Clean the collection system if it is clogged.
  6. FRP Tank Installation: If using an FRP tank for the resin bed, ensure the collection pipe is placed in the tank before filling the resin. Shake the collection pipe periodically during the filling process, and adjust its position after the resin is in place.
  7. Resin Filling in FRP Tanks: If the resin is filled first, inserting the collection pipe may be difficult. In such cases, lay the filled FRP tank on the ground and gently roll it to loosen the resin, then carefully insert the collection pipe.
  8. Water Introduction: Once the resin is filled and the pipes are connected, first open the air vent at the top of the tank. Slowly introduce water until water overflows from the vent, and no air bubbles remain. Then close the vent and start water collection.

This detailed approach ensures optimal resin performance and long-lasting operation in the ultra-pure water production system.
